Exploring Women’s and Sexuality Studies

Through the Women’s and Sexuality Studies minor, you will learn from disciplines including history, religious studies, anthropology, sociology, psychology, art, and literature in global and multicultural contexts. The program encourages critical thinking about individual and societal attitudes towards women and sexuality, and how these relate to current issues and events.

Through an interdisciplinary approach built on a liberal arts foundation, you will gain new perspectives on masculinity, femininity, and the complex experiences of being human. Select from a diverse range of elective courses on topics such as women and religion, dance and culture, sociology of health, and global feminisms.

Benedictine Scholarship

All new first-year applicants to St. Scholastica will be awarded either the Benedictine Scholarship or the Access Award, upon admission to the College.

Financial Aid

This minor offers a flexible capstone that you can complete through fieldwork experience, with the possibility of combining it with your major’s internship or clinical requirements.

Pursuing the Women’s and Sexuality Studies minor will improve your understanding and skills when encountering diverse perspectives and unique human experiences within your chosen career field. Students of this program bring their expertise to careers in healthcare, human services, violence prevention, education, law, and public policy. Others go on to advanced graduate study.
